COVID-19 Update - State Is Opening Up

Today was our first day open since March 23rd and it's been great seeing everyone again who stopped by to say hi!

Lake County has finally entered the next stage and caught up with the rest of the state.  To be compliant with the state orders and to protect our patrons and employees to the best of our abilities, we have instituted some temporary changes and reinforced others.

We have restored retail services, with the following conditions that if you high risk, are feeling ill, have a fever, or have any other potential COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home! We will continue to offer pick up and local delivery for free!

Please respect social distancing and be aware of your surroundings and other patrons.  The store is not very large so distancing is not easy.  We strongly encourage wearing a mask at all times in public, washing your hands and using hand-sanitizer frequently.

Please keep your kids contained! Kids like to run around and touch things.  Please hold on to them while in the store if you choose to bring them.

Absolutely NO outside food and beverages in the store. No Exceptions.  Limited snacks and beverages are available to purchase.  This allows us to limit the spread of potential contamination. Please do not leave containers around the premises either.

Please limit touching games.  Feel free to ask for help or recommendations or search our site.  All available tabletop games are listed online with descriptions and details.

Singles binders have been completely eliminated for organizational and hygienic reasons.  We are posting new cards online everyday and high-demand cards sell fast!  If you don't see what you are looking for, please ask. We'll be happy to assist!  Also, you can use "Advanced Search" to search out cards not in stock and wishlist them!

In the Game Room, all of the above apply, plus:

We have reduced our seating by 50% and spread the chairs to be distanced.  Please clean up after yourself.  Do not hover over or encroach on the personal space of others and staff. Practice washing your hands before play and after and following CDC guidelines for maintaining hygiene.

Please do not reshelve borrowed games.  We clean and assess games before reshelving.  Even more so now, regardless if it was just to read the back of the box, we will still need to clean appropriately.

Do not take games from non-shelved areas as these have not yet been cleaned.

IMPORTANT:  Patrons under 17 no longer permitted without a responsible guardian present!

Details are posted throughout the store.  If any of the changes in policy or ongoing policies listed on House Rules are violated, or behavior is deemed inappropriate or risky, the manager on duty has the right to remove the person in question from the premises.

SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY.  FUN AND GAMES COMES SECOND!

Stay safe and play games!

May 1 UPDATE: COVID Plans and More

Thank you, Lowell, for this beautiful weather during COVID lockdown!  Stay United! #cometogether.  And from the latest state announcement, we'll be back together soon enough!

*Governor Eric Holcomb has announced his plan for reopening Indiana cautiously.  Starting on May 4th, all but a few counties in Indiana will begin phase 2 reopening.  Despite Lowell being fairly separated from the rest of Lake County,  Lake County is one of the high risk locations that will not begin it's phase 2 until May 11 at least.

So what does phase 2 mean for BTB and other small businesses?

  • Hoosiers 65 and over and those with high risk health conditions who are the most susceptible to the coronavirus should remain at home as much as possible
  • Local governments may impose more strict guidelines
  • Essential travel restrictions are eliminated and gatherings of up to 25 people are permitted
  • The remaining manufacturers that had not been considered essential will also be able to open
  • Retail and commercial businesses will open at 50 percent capacity
  • Shopping malls may open at 50 percent capacity with indoor common areas restricted to 25 percent capacity
  • Personal services like hair salons barber shops, spas and tattoo parlors also may open may 11 by appointment only
  • Restaurants and bars that serve food may open May 11 at 50% capacity, but bar seating will remain closed
  • Those who work in offices are encouraged to work remotely whenever possible. "If anyone can work from home we encourage you to do so," Holcomb said.
  • Starting May 8 for all 92 counties, Indiana worship services may also convene following specific social distancing guidelines. Those 65 and over and those at elevated risk will be asked to stay home. "Church leaders: we need you to keep your congregations safe," Holcomb said.
So, watch for updates as we roll out additional web-based opportunities until then!
*As the state and others are beginning to open back up, many of our publishers and distributors are beginning to fill backorders and new orders! If you are looking for anything in particular, please don't hesistate to reach out to us! Keep an eye on our site as well as new products are being pushed live.
*If you live nearby, please consider taking advantage of our free Next Day options for in-stock merchandise: local pick up or local hand delivery! Select the items at checkout.
*Currently, our site only offers Pay in Store and Paypal.  We understand this is inconvenient for some and have been searching for the best possible online payment provider who is trustworthy and reasonably priced.  We are working with a company and within the next couple days, will be able to accept nearly all forms of payment on our new site.
Please keep in mind, as we will continue to offer Pay in Store, Pay In Store holds products for you for only a few days.  Payment must be made within 3 days of placing the order, in order for the inventory to be reserved.  If you need any assistance, please reach out to us for available options!
Thank you, be safe, and play games!

STORE CREDIT: The time has finally come! By now, we've converted all store credit up to April 12th.  There will be one more push from April 12th through April 24th from the legacy system.  Purchases after that (new site), all credit will be automatically credited like our customers were once used to a long long time ago, hooray!

CHECKING OUT: New options available for checkout!

  • Pay In Store - For those who don't like paying online, you may now reserve product for up to three days to pay in store and pickup.  Items will be ready the next day for pick up or you may call the store (219) 576-7892 during normal business hours to arrange same day pick up, up to an hour before close.   We cannot restrict this option, so please be aware Pre-orders will not be honored without final payment beyond the third day either.
  • Local Hand Delivery - A representative from our company will hand deliver your order at no additional charge, next day. Available within a 10 mile radius of the store. This is not automated so please be aware, if the request falls out of our boundaries, we will contact you via your registered email address to make other arrangements.  Phone number is required.

ACCOUNTS: If you have a registered email address with us and you have made a purchase, your email-along with your store credit- has been transferred! For security reasons, passwords are not able to transfer.  In order to access your existing account, you will need to click on Forgot Password to set your password.  If you have any issues, it may be possible that a new account may be required. Latent or abandoned accounts have been removed.  Please feel free to chat or email us if you have any issues.

DYNAMIC ATTRIBUTES: When clicking on categories, you will see the ability to Filter above your searches.  Many of these filterable attributes appear in the product descriptions as well, linking like products together.  We are constantly building, expanding and improving the filter options. Enjoy exploring!

WISHLIST: When searching, you will have the ability to see out of stock items.  We are loading new inventory everyday and currently have more products listed than ever!  While  out of stock merchandise is not purchasable and most likely not valuated yet, please feel free to request items from the Wishlist!  This is a great feature that notifies us of your interest and allows us to notify you when the product is in stock!

EVENTS: While COVID Stay-At-Home Order is still in effect, no store events will be available, however we will run occasional virtual events on various platforms.  Events and status updates will continue to be fed to social media and our new site feeds to the bottom of the front page, right here!

BUYLIST:  Buylist, as a whole, has not changed much but, as a reminder, we only post for cards we're accepting at the moment. All buylist requests must be done via website or in-store portal.  Due to limited staff resources, we no longer accept casual drop offs. For special requests, such as bulk buys, please make prior arrangements with the owners. In general, we do not accept trade-ins within 7 days of that card's release date. Also, we cannot accept trade-ins on promotional/FNM cards that are considered in standard rotation.

OLD GIFT CARDS: Gift cards with the QR Code on the back (not the magstripe) were discontinued back in December 2019 and are not capatible with the new website. All customers with outstanding balances were contacted with their final balances.  If you have an outstanding balance and have not contacted us back with your intentions, we will gladly either send a new physical gift card -magstripe version - out at no charge to your intended recipient (in-store transactions only), issue a store credit to your account, or issue a store credit an intended recipient with email.  Store credit can be used for both in-store and online transactions!
